Svadhisthana

Swadhisthana or Svadhisthana (Sanskrit: स्वाधिष्ठान, Svādhiṣṭhāna) is the Sacral chakra.  It means "one's own abode" or the "dwelling place of the self." 
Color: Orange
Element: Water
Location: the tailbone, corresponding with the pubic bone in the front of the body.

Yantra Symbol: A six-petaled lotus, sometimes called a black lotus with 6 vermilion colored petals. Inside of the lotus is a white crescent moon, which is the water region.

Associations / Characteristics: A feminine chakra, it deals with openness.  It is the center of our emotion, creativity, sensuality, and procreation.  This chakra connects to the moon, the darkness, and femininity.  It cools things down.  It governs our self worth and how we relate to others.  It deals with the flow of emotions, sexuality, intimacy, and desire.  Physically, it deals with urination and tears, the water of our body. It's also associated with the sense of taste and the action of reproduction. 

Unbalanced chakra: Sexual problems: inability to feel physical or emotional pleasure, fear of intimacy.  Unbalanced work ethic.  It's difficult to find harmony with work and pleasure time.  Your emotions go out of whack: you get bogged down by male and female stereotypes, and maybe causes you to be sexually abusive.  People go overboard, emotionally, feeling emotional drama, or craving constant pleasure. 

Balanced chakra: We feel confident. We can open up and feel better--feel pleasure without guiltiness.  We have strong relations with others without crossing their boundaries.  We're able to express our emotions.  We can reproduce normally, and we can control our sexual temptations.

Foods that fuel this chakra: Drinking liquids and eating orange foods: carrots, oranges, squash, red lentils. Orange spices: cinnamon, tumeric, ginger.  Liquids are full of water, which is essential to the nourishment of the organs around this chakra.  http://agrainaday.com/?p=1984#more-1984
