Vishudda

Vishuddha (Sanskrit: विशुद्ध, Viśuddha) also known as Vishuddhi, is the throat chakra.  It means purity or pure.
Color: Sky blue
Element: Aether
Location: The throat
Yantra symbol: White, with 16 petals. Within the petals is a sky-blue downward pointing triangle, within which is a circular region which is white like the full moon.


 Associations / Characteristics: This chakra is known as the purification center.  It is associated with higher discrimination, creativity, and self-expression.  It is what the success and failure in one's life depends on.  It's associated with the sense of hearing, as well as the action of speaking.  Meditation on this chkra is said to bring occult powers, freedom from disease, destruction of dangers. It's related to the ears and the mouth, as well as the thyroid gland in the human endocrine system, in the neck, which produces hormones that are essential for growth and maturation. It deals with ego, solitude, thoughts, and ideas.

Closed chakra: We undergo decay and death. We feel guilty. 

Open chakra: Negative experiences are transformed into wisdom and learning.

Food that fuels this chakra: Foods that illustrate a connection between elements.  Sea vegetables illustrate a connection between earth and water, and are full of minerals including iodine, which plays an especially important role in regulating and keeping the thyroid gland healthy.  Other foods include juices, soups, and sauces.

Deity: Ambara, who is white, with 4 arms, and holds a noose and a goad. He makes gestures that dispel fear, and is seated upon a white elephant. Also said to have Shakti as its Deity, who is the bestower of higher knowledge, memory, will, intuition, and improvisation.
